Images House is a friendly family run Bed and Breakfast offering private bath facilities. Situated in the beautiful market town of Hungerford in rural Berkshire, famous for its Antiques industry, it is less than three miles from the M4 motorway Junction 14, making it the ideal b&b for both business and leisure. Hungerford has a main line rail service to Newbury, Reading and London Paddington stations and offers a wealth of antique shops and fabulous canal walks including an area of special scientific interest which is renowned for its bird and plant life. The Kennet & Avon Canal passes through the town of Hungerford and visitors can enjoy a trip along the canal aboard the motorised traditionally painted Rose of Hungerford or the horse drawn barge. Local tourist attractions Crofton Pumping Station, which houses two beam engines dating from 1812 and 1845, the former being the oldest working steam driven beam engine in the world, Wilton Windmill, which is still using wind power to turn the grindstone, and the famous Combe Gibbet are also close by. The market town of Newbury is only a fifteen minute drive away, with its historic buildings, museum, canal visitors centre - canal boat trips are a must - and of course, the famous Newbury Racecourse. The area is steeped in history. Close by are the ruins of Donnington Castle, the site of the Battle of Newbury, Highclere Castle, which is open to the public during the Summer season, and with the Watermill theatre there is plenty to offer the most discerning visitor. It is also less than one hour by road to Oxford, Windsor, Winchester, Bath, the Cotswolds, Salisbury and the World Heritage Sites of Avebury and Stonehenge. The A34 - Southampton to the Midlands major road, is 8 miles to the east. London Heathrow is an approximate 45 minutes drive away from our B & B. |
